The new year has come which means everyone has started following or breaking their new year’s resolutions. Many people want to change an exercise, diet, or alcohol habit. Others want to read more, spend time with family, or go for a vacation (yes please). Regardless of what resolution you have or have not set out for yourself, all of these are life adjustments. As a chiropractor, adjustments are part of my everyday life. These can come in the form of physical therapy and adjusting joints that are not moving well or working with patients on any number of lifestyle changes. I thought I’d share some adjustment hints with everyone to help the new you this new year.
Studies show that adjusting a habit in your life is better by making sure the new habit is “SMART”. This doesn’t mean that you have to read every article on diets before changing an eating habit but it does mean that your goal should be; specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely.
Setting a goal to “eat better in 2026” is a great goal but you can make it even better by making it specific and measurable. Instead, you can eat better in 2026 by reducing your daily carb intake by 30%. This can be done by focussing on reducing sugary pastries as snacks and help me lose 5lbs in January. This new goal, although much longer, can be tracked so at the end of the month you can see how you’ve done.

After all of your life adjustments are made, come on in for an assessment and hands on adjustment!
Happy adjusting.
