Medical Acupuncture in Burlington

If pain is slowing you down and you are curious about acupuncture, you are in the right place. At Westside Chiropractic in Burlington, both of our chiropractors are certified in contemporary medical acupuncture, and we use it alongside hands-on chiropractic care to help people of all ages move, heal, and live better.

What is contemporary medical acupuncture?

Contemporary medical acupuncture uses thin, sterile needles, inserted into tight muscles and joint spaces to encourage your body’s natural healing. It can reduce or relieve pain and improve the function of the affected area, and it can also improve mood and energy.

Like everything we do, it starts with a conversation. We take a full history and assess how you move, then explain what we think is going on and talk through your options before we begin treatment. If acupuncture looks like a good fit, we will tell you why. If it does not, we will say that too.

What acupuncture can help with

We use acupuncture as part of care for both chronic and acute problems, including:

  • Back pain
  • Neck discomfort
  • Headaches
  • Pinched nerves
  • Sciatic pain
  • Joint stiffness

One tool, not the whole plan

We want to be honest with you: acupuncture is one tool among several, not a cure-all. We pair it with chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapies, and exercise and rehab, because improving strength and function helps the body alleviate discomfort and manage pain. Every treatment and recovery plan is tailored to the person, so acupuncture is included when it makes sense for you, not by default.

Certified through McMaster University

Dr. Emily Maranger and Dr. Cole Maranger were both certified through the McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program during their clinical internships. Both practise evidence-based care that combines spinal and extremity adjusting, soft tissue therapies, and acupuncture, so the acupuncture you receive is part of a considered, hands-on approach.

How appointments and fees work

Acupuncture at Westside Chiropractic is delivered within your chiropractic appointments rather than booked as a separate service. A combined adjustment and acupuncture session is $85. Your first visit is an initial assessment and treatment at $115, and that is where we work out together whether acupuncture belongs in your plan.

We offer direct billing through Telus Health, Green Shield Canada, Sunlife, and Medavie Blue Cross. Bring your insurance card and we will add it to your profile. You do not need a referral to see a chiropractor in Ontario, although some insurers want a physician referral for reimbursement. You can find full details on our fees and insurance page.
